Leap Forward - Leaps by Bayer Global Social Media Campaign
Leaps by Bayer is an impact investment wing of Bayer that exists to enable innovators come up with paradigm-shifting solutions for some of humanity's biggest problems such as finding a cure for cancer and genetic diseases. As the third chapter of its global social media campaign, Leaps wanted to inspire its audience of innovators and futurists trying to solve these seemingly impossible problems.
Leap Forward was born with the premise, collaboration breaks through the impossible. We put the metaphor into play and Leaps went on to achieve a breakthrough of its own: A 24-hour leap into the future across the International Date Line between American Samoa and Samoa. The stunt was captured by director Stephan Jose and the film made its debut at the 2023 SXSW. It has been viewed more than 10 million times online.
We also invited BBC StoryWorks to come on board the campaign for a documentary highlighting the drastic effects of climate change on Samoa's local population. Crossing the Line takes the audience to Samoa, where unpredictable weather conditions almost made us abort the jump across the Date Line. Featuring interviews with Samoan meteorologists and community leaders, the docu emphasises the need for innovation and action to combat climate change as increasingly clear, human, and urgent.
